Green Smoothies

Green smoothies are a good source of vitamins and minerals. They can really perk you up when energy is flagging, or when you want to start the day with a bit of a boost.

There are lots of quick recipes, and this is a tasty one to try that takes about 10 minutes to prepare:–

 

Ingredients for 2:

1 ripe avocado

80g of baby spinach

1 banana

80g seedless grapes (green preferably)

1 tsp chia seeds (flax or sesame seeds are good alternatives)

How to make it:

Put the avocado, banana, grapes and spinach in a blender. Add 400ml of water and blend until smooth and thick. Add the chia, or alternative seeds and blend again. Serve straight away.

Useful tip:–

Over ripe bananas can be peeled, sliced and frozen so you don’t have to throw them away. When you want them don’t defrost, just use them straight from the freezer!
